Why, what, and where is "art" today?
There seem to be three key ingredients for art: the artwork, the artist, and the audience. Similar ingredients are necessary for technology: gadgets, makers, and users. In everyday life, we constantly interact with technology, from the shoes on our feet to the smartphones in our hands; but it is much harder to recognize when we interact with art.
Why are some products called "artworks"? What is the difference between a gadget-maker and an artist? Where are we, not users, but an audience to art? Or: is there no meaningful difference between these categories?
