Ambition

Ambition is a form of desire, characterized by a strength of enthusiasm or commitment. 'To have ambition' means 'to be driven.' On the one hand, some forms of ambition have clear motive forces: for example, some people "are driven by" financial success. On the other hand, some forms of ambition are flexible and adaptable. In that case, when someone 'has ambition,' it means that someone is able to feel motivated in various situations.

Do you think there are better or worse forms of ambition? Why or why not? Do you think that ambition can be sustained? If so, how?

野心とは願望のひとつであり、そこに向かう熱意や取り組み方から特徴づけられると言えるでしょう。「野心を抱く」とは「突き動かされる」こと。一方で、野心がはっきりとした「原動力」となる面もあります。たとえば、ある人は経済的な成功に「突き動かされる」場合があり、またある人にとっての野心は柔軟で、状況によって適応していくこともあるでしょう。「野心を抱く」は、さまざまな場面においてモチベーションとなりえるのです。

「野心を抱く」に良し悪しはありますか。それはどうしてでしょう。また野心を継続して抱き続けることはできますか。そのためにはどのようにすべきでしょうか。
