Money

In the New Testament, it is written that "the love of money is the root of all evil." In America at least, this passage is widely understood to mean that love for money is either morally wrong or the cause of great suffering. Today, there is concern around the globe that the "profit motive" has come in conflict with the survival of our species, if not the planet.

We have clear worries about the role of money in our society, but where do these problems appear? Are these ultimately individual problems? If they are social, how so? How could these issues be addressed?

新約聖書に、「金を愛することは、諸悪の根源である」と書かれています。この一節は少なくともアメリカでは、金銭欲は道徳に反し、大きな苦しみの元であると広く考えられています。現在全世界で、「利益目的」であることが地球全体とは言わないまでも、人類生存の危機に面する恐れがあると懸念されています。

金銭の役割について社会の中ではっきりとした不安がありますが、この問題はどこから出てくるのでしょう。結局は個人の問題なのでしょうか。この問題が社会的であるなら、それはなぜでしょう。この問題にどう取り組むことができるでしょうか。
